The Irish Jurisprudence Society invites proposals to present at its 2022-23 workshop series. The purpose of the series is to develop and promote work that engages with legal philosophy, broadly understood, including all aspects of legal and political theory (analytical jurisprudence, constitutional theory, democratic theory, human rights etc.) and theoretical work with relevance to any area of law, and/or drawing on any branch of philosophy. We particularly welcome work that can speak to an interdisciplinary audience including scholars across both law and philosophy.
The format of the workshops is pre-read, with a commentator assigned to each paper. Presenters will be asked to send a draft two weeks in advance of the seminar for circulation to attendees. We expect to hold ten workshops in total over the 2022-23 academic year, beginning in October 2022. Workshops will be held at the National University of Ireland, Merrion Square, Dublin 2. These are provisionally scheduled for Wednesday afternoons from 3-pm-4.30pm, but with some flexibility on exact times and dates to accommodate the availability of presenters.
If you would like to present work at the IJS, please send an abstract of no more than 300 words to [email protected] by Monday 22 August. Please also indicate whether you have a preference for presenting your work in the Autumn (October-December) or Spring (January-April) semester, and any specific dates when you would not be available.
