Special issue: “Current themes in the Philosophy of Psychiatry”

We invite submissions for a special issue of Crítica on current themes in the Philosophy of Psychiatry. The issue will feature invited papers by Michelle Maiese (Emmanuel College), and by Walter Sinnott-Armstrong & Jesse Summers (Duke University).

Possible topics include: concepts of mental health and mental illness, concepts of cure and recovery, validity and reliability of psychiatric classifications and diagnostic criteria, critique and defense of medical and biological approaches to psychiatry, internalism and externalism about psychiatry, theories concerning specific psychopathological categories, rationality and psychopathology, motivation and psychopathology, emotion and psychopathology, phenomenology of psychiatric conditions, ethical aspects of psychiatric diagnosis and treatment, and implications for moral and legal responsibility.

Papers should not exceed 10,000 words including references and should be submitted in PDF or Word format to the following email address: [email protected]. Acceptable languages are English and Spanish. The deadline for submissions is July 31st, 2023.

Authors must send two electronic versions of their manuscripts. One should include the author’s name, title of contribution, e-mail address, postal address (including phone number); and a second version should be prepared for anonymous refereeing, where all references to the author including acknowledgements and bibliographical details are omitted. The file containing the article text must include the title, an abstract (100 words maximum) and a list of five keywords not mentioned in the title. When possible, title, abstract, and keywords should be both in English and Spanish.

Crítica: Revista Hispanoamericana de Filosofía is a quarterly open-access and peer-reviewed journal published by the Instituto de Investigaciones Filosóficas of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). With the help of various generations of Spanish and English speaking philosophers, Crítica has contributed significantly in establishing the analytic tradition especially in the Spanish speaking world. It was founded by Alejandro Rossi, Fernando Salmerón and Luis Villoro in 1967. Crítica has published contributions by such distinguished philosophers as Carlos Alchourrón, G.E.M. Anscombe, David Armstrong, Eugenio Bulygin, Héctor-Neri Castañeda, Hilary Putnam, W.V.O. Quine and Peter Strawson, among others.

Número especial: “Temas actuales de Filosofía de la Psiquiatría”

Invitamos a la presentación de artículos para un número especial de Crítica sobre temas actuales de la Filosofía de la Psiquiatría. El número contará con artículos invitados por Michelle Maiese (Emmanuel College) y por Walter Sinnott-Armstrong & Jesse Summers (Duke University).

Los temas posibles incluyen: conceptos de salud mental y enfermedad mental, conceptos de cura y recuperación, validez y confiabilidad de las clasificaciones psiquiátricas y los criterios de diagnóstico, escepticismo y defensa de los modelos médicos y biológicos en psiquiatría, internismo y externismo acerca de la psiquiatría, teorías sobre categorías psicopatológicas específicas, racionalidad y psicopatología, motivación y psicopatología, emoción y psicopatología, fenomenología de las condiciones psiquiátricas, aspectos éticos del diagnóstico y tratamiento, y responsabilidad moral y legal en el contexto de afecciones psiquiátricas.

Los artículos no deben exceder las 10.000 palabras incluyendo referencias y deben enviarse en formato PDF o Word a la siguiente dirección de correo electrónico: [email protected]. Se considerarán propuestas en inglés y en español. La fecha límite para las presentaciones es el 31 de julio de 2023.

Los autores deben enviar dos versiones electrónicas de sus manuscritos. Uno debe incluir el nombre del autor, título de la contribución, dirección de correo electrónico, dirección postal (incluido el número de teléfono); y se debe preparar una segunda versión para arbitraje anónimo, donde se omiten todas las referencias al autor, incluidos los agradecimientos y detalles bibliográficos. El archivo que contenga el artículo debe incluir el título, un resumen (máximo 100 palabras) y una lista de cinco palabras clave no mencionadas en el título. El título, el resumen y las palabras clave deben consignarse tanto en español como en inglés.

Crítica. Revista Hispanoamericana de Filosofía es una revista de acceso libre y con proceso de revisión por pares publicada por el Instituto de Investigaciones Filosóficas de la Universidad Nacional Autónoma de Mexico (UNAM). Con la ayuda de varias generaciones de filósofos hispano y angloparlantes, Crítica ha contribuido significativamente a establecer la tradición analítica en filosofía en el mundo hispanohablante. Fue fundada por Alejandro Rossi, Fernando Salmerón y Luis Villoro en 1967 y desde su fundación hasta la fecha ha publicado artículos de filósofos de renombre como Carlos Alchourrón, G.E.M. Anscombe, David Armstrong, Eugenio Bulygin, Héctor-Neri Castañeda, Hilary Putnam, W.V.O. Quine y Peter Strawson, entre otros.
