Topic areas

Details

Submissions are welcome from current graduate students on any area of analytic metaphysics. ‘Metaphysics’ should be broadly construed to include not only traditional metaphysical topics, but also the metaphysical aspects of a subject e.g. mind, language, religion, ethics, and aesthetics.

Submissions of any length up to 5,000 words will be considered.

Each paper presented at the conference will be followed by a response from a member of academic staff or PhD student from the University of Leeds, Department of Philosophy.

In addition, there will be a skills session presented by a member of the University of Leeds philosophy faculty. And we are pleased to announce that Dr. Elizabeth Barnes (University of Leeds) has agreed to give the keynote speech.

As with previous years, we hope to be able to pay some or all of the travel and accommodation costs for those people whose papers are accepted. (This is dependent on the success of our funding applications.)

Please submit complete papers by e-mail to [email protected], and ensure that you clearly label it as such in the subject heading of that email. Submissions must be in a format compatible with either Microsoft Word (.doc/.docx) or Adobe Acrobat (.pdf). A receipt will be provided as soon as possible upon receiving the submission.

All submissions should be suitable for blind review (we cannot guarantee blind refereeing if your paper is not suitably anonymised). Please include a cover page with title, abstract and contact details.

Deadline for receipt of submissions is Sunday 11th August 2013.

Decisions will be announced by Monday 2nd September 2013.
