The Dawn of Experimental Conceptual Engineering Workshop will be run as part of this year's European Experimental Philosophy conference in Zurich. The one day workshop aims to bring together experimental philosophers and methodologists to examine the theoretical basis of experimental conceptual engineering and hopes to jumpstart the field of experimental conceptual engineering. We welcome all submissions that explore the relationship between experimental philosophy and conceptual engineering.

Keynote: Edouard Machery (University of Pittsburgh)

Possible topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Demonstrations of experimental conceptual engineering
  • How do experimental methods interact with different CE frameworks?
  • Do xphi and CE need to change in order to incorporate each other?
  • Is there a need for experimental conceptual engineering in the first place?
  • How should xphi be used in Carnapian explication?

The workshop will be held on 13 September 2023 at the University of Zurich and will be open to all interested participants. There will be no registration fees.

To be considered for a speaking slot, please send a 500-word abstract prepared for blind review to [email protected] by 1 May 2023 with the subject "XCE workshop submission". Notifications will be sent by 15 May.
