Details

Abstract : In this paper, I will examine on what basis a concept of 'personal' or 'existential' truth can be adequately formulated. I will start by considering Heidegger's attempt at such a formulation and show its limits and even its inconsistencies. I will reconsider three classical, alternative accounts that we find in Homer, in Socrates' discourse during his trial and in Saint Augustine respectively. I will finally try to consider what role the question of truth can play in an approach to human identity.
