The Epistemic Significance of Perceptual Consciousness
The Department of Cognitive Science and the Department of Ontology in the Institute of Philosophy at Jagiellonian University in Cracow announce a workshop on the epistemic significance of perceptual consciousness.
DESCRIPTION
The purpose of this event is to create an opportunity for philosophers interested in epistemology of perception and the epistemic role of consciousness to present and discuss their ongoing work. The topics we would like to cover include (but are not limited to):
- the ability of various theories of perception and consciousness to account for the epistemic roles of conscious perception,
- the epistemic significance of conscious perception vis-à-vis unconscious perception,
- the epistemic roles characteristic of non-visual and multimodal conscious perception.
TIME AND VENUE
This is going to be an in-person event. The workshop will be held on 30-31 May 2024 in the Institute of Philosophy at Jagiellonian University in Cracow, Poland.
INVITED SPEAKERS
Jacob Berger (Lycoming College)
Declan Smithies (Ohio State University)
