Details

We invite abstract submissions for a workshop that aims to bring together scholars working in business ethics, and feminist theory, and/or social and applied epistemology, with the hope of fostering new work at the intersection of those fields.

The workshop will be held at Bentley University, in the suburbs of Boston, March 8 & 9, 2024.

We are delighted to have Erin Beeghly (University of Utah) as a keynote speaker.

We invite abstract submissions from faculty, post-docs, and graduate students who are working at the intersection of business ethics and feminist and/or social epistemology, broadly construed. We ask that submissions offer a fairly detailed sense of the paper without exceeding 500 words. Potential topics may include:

● discrimination and oppression at work

● how businesses shape personal and societal beliefs and values

● “lean in” culture and the “girl boss” phenomenon

● the commoditization of feminism and using feminist messaging as a branding tool

● diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives in the workplace

● the dynamics of epistemic in/justice, gaslighting, or forms of silencing at work

● gamification, productivity, and exploitation in the workplace

● the gender pay gap

● employer policies related to gender and LGBTQ+ issues

● cultural code-switching in the workplace and barriers to social mobility

● toxic work environments

● intersectional approaches to workplace culture and climate

● feminist and social epistemic perspectives on issues related to emerging technologies

Please send your abstract to [email protected] by December 15th, 2023. Individuals will be notified about whether their paper has been selected for presentation by January 10th.

Note: This is an in-person workshop; remote participation will not be possible. We hope to have some funds available to help offset travel costs for early career scholars who lack adequate travel funds to participate, but we cannot guarantee the availability of such funds at this time.
