EPSSE Annual Conference 2024

European Philosophical Society for the Study of Emotions (EPSSE) Annual Conference 2024, Lisbon

We are delighted to announce that our 11th EPSSE Annual Conference will be co-hosted in Lisbon by the University of Lisbon and NOVA University Lisbon on 19th - 21st June 2024. EPSSE’s inaugural meeting was held in Lisbon, so it feels very fitting to return there for the first meeting of our second decade(!) as a society.

A huge thank you to our local organisers Laura Silva, Dina Mendonca, and Ricardo Santos for agreeing to host us and helping us put together the conference!

Call for Abstracts for EPSSE 2024

The call for abstracts for our 2024 annual conference is now open! We invite submissions on the philosophy of emotions, widely construed, for:

• Individual papers (up to 500 words)

• Group panel sessions (a summary of the panel up to 250 words and abstracts for each speaker up to 500 words)

• Book symposia (a summary of the book symposia up to 500 words and a list of proposed commentators)

• Any more creative options that you have in mind (we recommend that you get in touch with us to discuss any alternative formats that you are interested in proposing)

Please prepare abstracts for anonymous review in word or PDF form.

Submissions should be sent to: [email protected]. Please use the following title in the subject line of your email: “Abstract submission EPSSE 2024”.

In order to allow as many speakers as possible to have a slot, we ask our members to only submit once to the conference (with the exception of participating as a commentator in a book symposium, which you can do alongside submitting an abstract for a presentation or participating in a group panel).

Important Dates

• Latest date to submit abstracts: 7th January 2024

• Notification of reviewers' decision: 9th February 2024

• Early bird registration deadline for speakers: 15th March 2024

• Late registration deadline for speakers: 5th April 2024

• Pre-conference workshop: 18th June 2024

• Annual Conference: 19th - 21st June 2024

Estimated Fees

Membership and registration fee (note these figures are based on estimates of the catering costs and so are subject to change):

• Early bird registration: open until 15th March 2024

• 200 € for faculty members

• 120 € for students

• Late registration: open until 5th April 2024

• 250 € for faculty members

• 140 € for students

Please note that the registration fee includes lunch and coffee breaks but it does not include the conference dinner.
