The overarching theme of this conference is global feminism, explored at both theoretical and applied levels.
Our envisioned conference will span two days, with one day dedicated to theoretical discussions and the other to applied perspectives. Theoretical papers should delve into the possibility of a global feminism, the influence of non-Western theories (such as Islamic, LatinX, Africana, and Afro-Caribbean), decolonial feminism, and the role of ideal and non-ideal theory in feminism. On the applied side, we welcome papers exploring the implementation of global feminist concepts.
Potential paper topics include, but are not limited to:
- Non-ideal vs. ideal theory
- Decolonial feminism
- Transnational feminism
- Third-world feminism
- Islamic Feminism
- LatinX Feminism
- Afro-Caribbean Feminism
- The possibility of transnational feminist ethics
- The role of 'Western feminism' in a global context
- Applied papers on feminist issues, such as abortion, child marriage, women and work, feminist praxis, and the decision to have children.
This is a student event (e.g. a graduate conference).
