The purpose of this workshop is to discuss current approaches to consciousness and cognition in philosophy of cognitive science and philosophy of mind. Our special guest Dr. Richard Manary (Macquarie University, Sydney) will give a public lecture on "Cognitive Integration and Cognitive Niche Construction" (14/11/2013, 14.15-15.45) and he will introduce and discuss his considerations on gradualist and saltationist approaches to the evolution of language (15/11/2013, 10.00 - 12.00).
Furthermore, PhD candidates and graduate students from the University of Mainz and the University of Tokyo will present their recent work dealing with disorders of consciousness and cognition, the unity of consciousness, ethical implications of consciousness research, intentional systems theory, predictive coding, and extended cognition.
