Details
The Workshop on Value Exploration examines value, the self, and how they relate to each other. It sits at the intersection of value theory (in particular, axiology and the metaphysics of value) and the philosophy of mind (in particular, that which discusses the self and values/preferences).
Scheduled talks include the following:
Ralf M. Bader (Fribourg), Organic wholes and organic parts.
Krister Bykvist (Stockholm), Value magnitudes and incomparability.
Olivier Massin (Neuchâtel), Derivative values.
L. A. Paul (Yale), Value by acquaintance.
Peter Schaber (Zürich), Consent as a normative power.
Dean Zimmerman (Rutgers-New Brunswick), Chisholm's theory of organic unities.
Talks are scheduled for June 3 and 4. Further activities blending philosophy with sightseeing are scheduled for June 5. They will involve keynote speakers, workshop participants, and MAP students. The MAP is the Master of Arts in Philosophy of USI Lugano: usi.ch/map
