Details

The University of Hong Kong's AI&Humanity Lab, in conjunction with its Masters of Arts in AI, Ethics, and Society, is holding an upcoming workshop on the theme of AI consciousness and welfare. The workshop will be held in person in HKU on the 5th and 6th of March 2024. The workshop is organized by Professor Herman Cappelen and Dr Simon Goldstein. The theme of the workshop is AI consciousness and welfare broadly construed. Some questions we are interested in include (but are not limited to):

(*) Are current or future generation systems conscious or likely to be conscious?

(*) How can we tell whether AI systems are conscious?

(*) What theory of welfare best makes sense of AI systems?

(*) What is the link (if any) between consciousness and welfare in the context of AI?
