Submission deadline: June 1, 2025

Details

As violent conflicts continue to plague humanity, we need critical thinking about war, peace, and nonviolence.  This special issue of Ethical Perspectives aims to publish philosophical arguments and critical reflection on issues that arise in thinking about war, peace, and nonviolence.  Although discussion of current conflicts and particular cases is relevant, we encourage papers that go beyond topical case studies and which aim to make a larger, philosophical point. This general topic includes (but is not limited to):

·       Questions about justice in war and the just war tradition

·       Defenses or critiques of pacifism and nonviolence

·       Evaluations of ethical issues related to peace-building and peace-keeping

·       Conceptual analyses of war, peace, violence, and nonviolence

·       Critiques of militarism and other systems

·       Critical analyses of authors or activists who discuss war, peace, or nonviolence

·       Discussions of hope and despair in pursuit of world peace
