Labyrinth: An International Journal for Philosophy, Value Theory and Sociocultural Hermeneutics is preparing a special issue on the occasion of the 30th death anniversary of Emmanuel Levinas (1906-1995). Of particular interest are new readings and discussions dealing with the main topics of his philosophy, as for example:

  • Levinas and contemporary debates of the Other(ness) and the Alien
  • Levinas contributions to ethics
  • Levinas on vulnerability and responsibility
  • Levinas and Jewish thought
  • Levinas religion, and the question of God
  • The Buber – Levinas dialogue
  • Levinas and phenomenology (Husserl, Heidegger, Sartre, Merleau-Ponty, Ricoeur)
  • Levinas and deconstruction
  • Levinas, humanism and posthumanism
  • Levinas and feminist critique
  • Levinas and the political
  • Levinas, art and esthetic experience

Scholars working in the field of Levinas' philosophy are invited to submit a brief abstract until February 28th, 2025 with a brief bio-bibliographic information including: name, academic degree, academic position, academic affiliation, and 5-7 main publications.

Authors who have already a finished unpublished paper are welcome to submit it within the abstract. Papers in their final form, i.e., proofread, formatted according to the journal guidelines and print ready, should be submitted no later than November 2th, 2025.

As a multilingual Journal Labyrinth accepts papers in English, French, and German.
