XXVIII International Summer School in Philosophy of Physics: Epistemology of Quantum Gravity
26-30 May 2025, University of Urbino
The XXVIII International Summer School in Philosophy of Physics focuses on the Epistemology of Quantum Gravity, addressing a pivotal issue at the intersection of physics and philosophy. This year's theme explores the epistemological status of quantum gravity theories—how can such a theory be formulated without empirical data, and how can its progress be evaluated?
The school will feature in-depth lectures on the physics, philosophy, and conceptual foundations of quantum gravity and its connections to cosmology, epistemology, and metaphysics. Topics include the challenges of constructing a theory of quantum gravity in the absence of experimental evidence, and the debate over whether these approaches are advancing toward a coherent understanding of the quantum nature of spacetime or engaging in speculative theorizing.
