Details

Are you a studrnt of philosophy looking to gain experience presenting your work in an academic environment? Apply now to present at our student conference on October 24, 2025, at the University of Bielefeld.

Why this conference? We want to create a space for (future) philosophers from marginalized groups to present their work and exchange ideas. In addition to two guest presentations by Dr. Viktoria Knoll (TU Dresden) and Dr. Leda Berio (Ruhr Universität Bochum) on the conference topic, five students will have the chance to give a 20-minute lecture (in German or English) followed by a Q&A session.

The content of your talk should be connected to the philosophy of language. There are no restrictions regarding the specific subject - topics from both practical and theoretical philosophy are welcome. Maybe you have a term paper you are proud of or a philosophy of language topic you are passionate about? We would be happy if you shared your ideas with us!

How do you apply?

Until May 31, 2025, you can use this link to fill in all necessary personal information: bit.ly/young-minds-2025

Here, you'll also need to tell us what's your motivation to apply and how you belong to a marginalized group.

Also, you will upload a PDF describing what your talk will be about, incl. your theses and your argumentation (approx. 500-800 words).

The conference is organized by the Young Minds Philosophy Kollektiv and financially supported, among others, by the Philosophy Department of the University Bielefeld, SWIP e.V., and DGPhil e.V. Therefore, we are able to provide a hotel room for the speakers and to cover travel expenses up to the amount of 150€. If you have any questions, please email us at: [email protected]

We look forward to your application!
