Biannual Conference on the Philosophy of Artificial Intelligence (PhAI 2025)

We are delighted to invite submissions for the 6th Conference on the Philosophy of Artificial Intelligence, an event designed to explore the philosophical implications and challenges presented by artificial intelligence. Keynote speakers:
- John Danaher
- Keith Frankish
- Emily Sullivan
Submission Guidelines:
We seek short papers (3,000–4,000 words, excluding bibliography) that engage critically with the following topics, broadly conceived:
- AI and Authorship
- AI and consciousness
- The future of work in an AI-driven economy
- The philosophical underpinnings of machine learning
- Autonomy, responsibility, and AI
- The nature of intelligence: Human vs. Artificial
- Bias, fairness, and transparency in AI systems
- AI and influence on belief, evidence, intellectual character
After an initial screening, all relevant submissions will undergo a double-blind peer review by an expert panel. Selected papers will be presented at the conference, after which authors will have the opportunity to revise their work for publication. Final versions of the accepted papers will be published in a special proceedings issue of the diamond open-access journal Philosophy of AI:https://journals.ub.uni-koeln.de/index.php/phai/index We anticipate space for around 30 paper presentations in two parallel sessions. In addition to paper presentations, we will also host a poster session, with space for up to 30 posters. Papers rejected as paper presentations might still be accepted as posters. Important Details:
