Call for Papers

Virginia State University, Petersburg, VA

September 26th-27th 2025

The conference will run from the afternoon on Friday, the 26th through lunchtime on Saturday, the 27th

The Keynote speakers will be Anika Simpson (Howard University) and Dee Payton (University of Virginia)

We welcome submissions in any area of philosophy from philosophers and graduate students. Papers should be no longer than 4,000 words. Please prepare the paper as a PDF for blind review and include a brief abstract. In the body of the email, please provide:

1.     1. Name

2.     2. Affiliation

3.     3.Rank

4.     4.Title of paper

Email papers to Joshua Anderson, VPA President, at [email protected], with 'VPA Submission' in the subject line.

Paper submission deadline: July 1, 2025.

Commentators will be solicited from those whose papers are not selected, so please indicate in the body of the email if you would be willing to be a commenter, should your paper not be accepted. 

This conference is an in-person event.

There is no conference fee nor membership requirement, and Friday night's dinner will be provided by Virginia State University
