Details

We are delighted to announce a daylong event at the CUNY Graduate Center, New York, honoring the exceptional career and philosophical achievements of Professor Michael Devitt, who taught at the Graduate Center from 1999-2023. In addition to producing outstanding philosophical work, Michael rebuilt the CUNY PhD Program in philosophy and set up the Saul Kripke Center, making the Graduate Center a magnet for philosophers and logicians working in the philosophy of language, the philosophy of mind, metaphysics and the philosophy of mathematics.

Please join us on May 16 for a day of talks, reminiscences and good cheers with Michael’s colleagues, students and friends. Proceedings will begin at 9:30 AM with coffee. A buffet lunch will be served at 1:30 PM, and a reception will be held at 6:30 PM. The spaces between drinks and food will be filled by short talks about Michael’s work and reminiscences that might well stray from matters academic.

Please note: *Registration is required* for anyone attending the buffet lunch or the reception. To register, send email to both [email protected] and [email protected] with “Devitt Registration” in the subject line.

The conference is sponsored by the CUNY Philosophy Program, the Saul Kripke Center, and the John H. Kornblith Family Fund.
