The Prindle Institute for Ethics at DePauw University is thrilled to host the fourth annual Midwest Ethics Symposium on the theme of Technology and Well-Being, April 7-8, 2026. This year’s symposium will bring together academics, professionals, and students to think about the ethical implications of consumer technologies and, especially, how these technologies affect our overall quality of life.

We welcome the submission of extended abstracts (750-1000 words) on any topic related to this theme. Some important sub-themes include:

  • Social media, identity and community
  • AI usage and intellectual development
  • The socio-political consequences of digital information access (e.g., echo chambers, algorithmic feeds)
  • Digital technology applied to health and wellness (e.g., fitness trackers)
  • The effects of digital technology on attention
  • Simulated digital persons as companions
  • AI and therapy (medical and mental)

Extended abstracts should be prepared for anonymous review and submitted by January 11, 2026.   Stipends to help offset travel and lodging expenses associated with the symposium are available for presenters. Please direct any questions to [email protected]
