Dear colleagues,
we are delighted to invite applications for Engaged Listeners (doctoral/postdoctoral level) for our conference International Law and Emotions - Recovering Universality?, taking place at the Max Planck Institute for Comparative Public Law and International Law on 25th to 27th February in Heidelberg, Germany: https://www.mpil.de/en/pub/news/conferences-workshops/international-law-and-emotions.cfm.
It takes an interdisciplinary approach, and we especially welcome scholars from diverse disciplines to join the conversation.
The conference seeks to explore how, whose, and which emotions contribute to the current erosion of effectiveness and credibility of international law. How is the construction of emotions shaped across time, place, and culture? Can we identify emotions that contribute to strengthening and weakening international law's claim to universality?
You will find the detailed Call for Engaged Listeners attached, including information on eligibility and how to apply. The deadline for applications is 31 October 2025.
We would be grateful if you could share this call with your networks, and we would be glad to hear from you.
With best wishes,
Bernadette Lumbela
On behalf of the organizing team: Prof. Dr. Anne Peters, Dr. Elia Alexiou, Bernadette Lumbela, Caroline Schaeffer
