The John Templeton Foundation–funded project “Virtues and Vices of Spiritual Yearning” invites letters of intent for eight two-year sub-grants on the project theme: four primarily philosophical projects (up to $100,000 USD each) and four projects with a significant empirical/psychological component (up to $250,000 USD each). Projects will explore the constructive and destructive roles of spiritual yearning (religious or secular) in human life, broadly construed and across diverse traditions and cultural contexts. LOIs (1,000–1,500 words) are due February 1, 2026; full proposals (by invitation only) are due July 1, 2026.
