Neil Levy has recently claimed that the surprising ends-ends inconsistency of some addicts can be explained using the prediction-error minimisation (PEM) model of the brain. I compare this view with analogous explanations drawn from accounts of narrative self-constitution. I argue that  the two views are compatible and that the combined view can solve some of the PEM view's problems.
