Thanks to generous funding from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, we are organizing the first of two Mellon Workshops on Democracy in Buffalo on May 19th and 20th at the Richardson Hotel.  

The workshop will bring together an interdisciplinary group of scholars with expertise on democracy, local politics, and immigration.  Our speakers include: Sam Bagg (Political Science; USC), Çiğdem Çıdam (Political Science; Union College), Els de Graauw (International Migration Studies, Political Science; Barauch College and CUNY GC), Juman Kim (Political Science; Towson), Avia Pasternak (Philosophy; UMD), Sarah Song (Law, Philosophy, and Political Science; Berkeley), Celina Su (Urban Studies, Political Science; CUNY), and Veronica Terriquez (Chicano/a Studies, Central American Studies, Urban Planning; UCLA), as well as Sadie Dempsey, Ryan Muldoon, Alexandra Oprea, and Daniel Stephens from the University at Buffalo, Philosophy Department and Philosophy, Politics, and Economics (PPE) Program.
