Details

We invite submissions of abstracts of papers on any aspect of Locke’s philosophy, on the reception of Locke by his contemporaries or on Lockean and Neo-Lockean themes in present-day philosophy. Topics could include, but will not be restricted to the relevance of Locke’s moral philosophy within his Essay, the religious context of Locke’s philosophy, Locke’s conception of agency and its role in his account of personal identity, Locke’s conception of essence and identity, the relation between Locke’s metaphysics and his epistemological modesty, and Leibniz’s reactions to Locke in the New Essays.

Abstracts of approximately 500 words or less should be prepared for blind review and sent to [email protected] by 1 March 2012. We intend to announce decisions within a month.

Presentations should be no longer than 40-45 minutes and will be followed by discussion. We encourage submissions by graduate students and aim to offer subsidized accommodation for graduate speakers.
