Advances in neuroscience are set to transform our understanding of human cognition and behaviour. They may change how we treat people with behavioural or psychiatric disorders and challenge society’s views of decision-making and judgments of moral responsibility.
The Symposium - Neuroethics Down-Under 2014 - addresses the clinical, ethical, legal and policy challenges that will accompany theses changes:
- Will neurobiological explanations of mental illness reduce the stigma of mental illness and improve access to effective medical treatment?
- How will neuroscience change our judgments of moral or legal responsibility?
- Will neuroscience leave open the possibility of authentic and autonomous behaviour?
- How should society respond to the use of emerging neurotechnologies to enhance cognition?
Neuroethics Down-Under 2014 brings together leading Australian and International researchers and practitioners from psychology, neuroscience, psychiatry, neurology, philosophy, ethics, law and the social sciences.
Neuroethics Down-Under 2014 follows theAustralian Society for Cognitive Science conference 8-10th December, Monash University.
