Experience and Value - Texas Tech's 19th Annual Graduate Conference

The conference aims to bring together scholars working at the intersection of philosophy of mind, value theory, and the history of philosophy. We will feature a keynote address by Dr. José Luis Bermúdez.

The central question of the conference is broad: what, if anything, makes experience valuable?

We intend to encourage dialogue between scholars who might not ordinarily attend the same event: ancient and historical philosophers interested in psychology, ethics, and value; philosophers of mind working on consciousness, affect, and perception; ethicists and value theorists concerned with welfare, moral status, and the good life; as well as (but not limited to) epistemologists and philosophers of action interested in memory, rational choice, and transformative experience.
