Details

Thinking the Unthinkable is a session within CAELO 1 (Lima, 22–28 February 2027) dedicated to the logical and philosophical study of paradox. This symposium will explore the nature, origins, and significance of paradoxes across logic, philosophy, mathematics, language, and the sciences. Particular attention will be given to the ways in which paradoxes challenge established notions of truth, consistency, rationality, meaning, and inference, as well as to the formal and philosophical strategies developed to understand, resolve, or accommodate them.

The session aims to bring together formal, philosophical, and historical approaches to paradox, fostering dialogue on the role of paradox in the development of logic and its broader philosophical significance.
