The Moral Methodology Workshop will bring together philosophers working on questions related to methodology in ethical inquiry. While philosophical methodology has received greater attention in recent years, there remain methodological questions in ethical theory that require more research. In particular, there are questions regarding how to craft moral thought-experiments which produce more reliable judgments, what counts as evidence in ethics (intuitions, emotions, perceptions, etc.), and how evidence should be weighed when building an ethical theory. By bringing together those examining these and related questions, the workshop will advance the study of moral methodology.

The two-day workshop will be hosted at the University of British Columbia’s Vancouver campus by the Philosophy Department between April 17-18th, 2027.

Non-presenters who are interested in participating are encouraged to email the organizer Eric Wilkinson to confirm their participation: [email protected]
