DIALECTICS IN DEVELOPMENT?

Dr Boukema will discuss the place of dialectical modes of thought in
contemporary philosophy. Harm Boukema taught philosophy for 40 years at
the Universities of Amsterdam, Twente, Tilburg and Nijmegen and inspired
generations of Dutch philosophy students with his penetrating and
original analyses of Descartes, Hegel, Russell, Wittgenstein and Austin.
His recent publication, "Russell's Second Paradox: A Dialectical
Analysis of 'On Denoting’" is an example of his close-reading method and
of his long-standing interest in looking for the hidden common ground of
analytic and continental philosophy.

All are welcome to attend. This seminar is part of the German Philosophy
Seminar series at the IMLR:
