In this lecture Dr Marshall discusses the theory of the Dutch philosopher Baruch Spinoza (1632-77) that the human mind is identical with God’s idea of the human body. Marshall argues that this view is intimately related to Spinoza’s philosophy of the nature of ideas, and that it is much more plausible than it initially seems.
