Details
The Speculative Ethics Forum is a one day workshop-style event in which we’ll consider the most challenging matters of ethics. Ethical approaches of all sorts are welcomed–analytic, continental, ancient, medieval, Asian, and so on. Most papers are invited. However, there are two slots open for submissions. Any paper in ethical theory will be considered for acceptance. Bold and speculative inquiries are preferred to papers that primarily defend ground already gained or papers that are primarily scholarly. Our aim, in short, is to have a single day concentrated on expanding the horizons of ethics.
Abstract
I found that people communicate even through silence, thanks to reconciliation. By this I include the inner experience during which the dialog with the Other when the misunderstanding prevails. The misunderstanding shows the paradoxical construction of human morality. In effect of it the casuistic logic can´t be a structure of its definition in an ethics theory.
The old Trolley Problem reveals the same paradox. It guided me to discover the sense of touch as a base to morality. Pain and corruption of sex respectively conduct to —and make one aware of a possibility of— defunct and reproduction. Both, extreme experiences of human finitude frame her customs front the other. The theoretical foundation will refer to Derrida writing about Nancy; Greene, Anthony, Girard and Bataille. Also I will stay close to the lecture of Eduardo Kohn, who moves toward the anthropology beyond the human individual. I project my anthropological idea with the communicational origin of moral custom, limited by touch experiences that alert of imminent death or sex, which I will try to display in one ethics theory. Key concept of it will be reconciliation that will find explanation by the discourse pattern that admits paradoxes: the paraconsistent logic.
The basic resources are drawings that I collected during years. Students of some universities realized their inner portraits with color wax crayons on the rectangular piece of paper. By surprise, they drew few symbols that were easy to interpret; in spite, they warded off their meanings, on account they were involving me in a dialog to respond to their anxiety about life’s threats by analysing their drawings. So I answered finding out how the meaning have been constructed during the conversation, while the moral limits of the student´s image become the conclusion and the guiding light for her life to became.
