Details

The aim of this event is to help those working on theories of global justice to identify and address specific moral issues that international economic institutions raise. For example: ‘Should the WTO have a role in enforcing labour rights?’; ‘Do economic institutions have a moral duty to mitigate their negative effects on the poor and on the environment?’; ‘Should economic institutions promote equality of opportunity?’; ‘What are the ethical issues relating to currency devaluations?’

These and similar issues have become increasingly salient, both because of advances in the debate on global justice and because the recent economic and financial crisis has emphasised our shared economic vulnerabilities.

We welcome proposals for papers in relevant areas of political theory and philosophy.

Proposals for paper presentations should consist of a 500-word abstract. Presenters will have 15 minutes to speak plus 15 minutes for discussion.

Proposals for panels should consist of a 500-word abstract plus a list of three panellists. Panel sessions will last for approximately 90 minutes.

The deadline for submissions is July 15th.

Registration and participation in the conference are free of charge. Unfortunately, we are unable to provide financial support for travel or accommodation.

Please send all submissions and other correspondence to [email protected]
