Graham Priest (CUNY) will present "Logical Theory Choice: the Case of Vacuous Counterfactuals" at 11 in Old Quad G10.

Abstract: When two logical theories compete concerning some matter, how does one choose which is better?  I take it that the answer is by applying the method of weighted criteria maximisation.  In this talk I will illustrate the method by applying it to the current debate concerning whether counterfactuals with impossible antecedents are vacuously true.
