On the 24th-25th September 2017 the Humane Philosophy Project will host a conference on the Value of the Humanities. Talks will be examine possible justifications for work in the arts and humanities, and for public funding of that work.
Keynote speakers:
Dr Alicja Gescinska (philosopher and public intellectual)
Professor Sandy Stoddart (the Queen's Sculptor in Ordinary in Scotland)
Professor Sir Roger Scruton (philosopher and novelist)
Professor Raymond Tallis (neuroscientist and polymath)
This conference marks the conclusion of the 2016-2017 AHRC-funded research group on the value of the humanities at the University of Cambridge, and will also include several short papers by members of the group with specialists in art-history, classics, history, philosophy, and engineering.

Refreshments will be provided during the day. A limited number of places are available for the conference dinner on the 25th. Please enquire when registering. You will be required to pay for dinner by bank transfer together with the registration fee.
