Details

The aim of this postgraduate conference is to examine the relation between movement and aesthetics. There are a number of philosophical puzzles pertaining to movement which have been raised in relation to various art forms including dance, music, film, drama, and visual art forms – painting, sculpture, photography. A question that is not restricted to these art forms concerns the possibility to have an aesthetic experience of one’s own movements. The concept of movement lies at the intersection between aesthetics, metaphysics, phenomenology, and philosophy of mind; as such, this conference aims to bring together aestheticians but also students specialising in other philosophical areas. Topics include, but are not limited to:

• The experiential character of dance and bodily movements
• Movement and music
• Movement in static art forms
• Movement and films
• Movement and emotions
• Movement in Non-Western Aesthetics

Please see website for more details about the speakers and registration.
