We are seeking proposals for an edited volume on the moral psychology of awe, as part of a series on the moral psychology of various emotions published by Rowman and Littlefield (Mark Alfano, series editor).

The volume aims to provide interdisciplinary perspectives on awe, so proposals from various disciplines are welcome.

Possible topics include:                               

·         Awe and emotion theories

·         Positive and negative awe                        

·         Awe and the sublime                  

·         The intentional object of awe                 

·         The psychology of awe                               

·         Political uses of awe                     

·         The genealogy of awe                 

·         The neurology and physiology of awe                 

·         Cross-cultural perspectives on awe                      

·         Awe and religion                           

·         Awe and related emotions (e.g. admiration, wonder, respect, elevation, fear)                              

·         Awe as a moral emotion                            

These are suggested topics, and proposals on other topics are welcome.

Interested contributors should send a title, an abstract (700-1200 words) and a CV for each author and coauthor to [email protected] and/or [email protected].

Accepted proposals will be included in a book proposal which will be submitted to the editor. If the book proposal is accepted, authors will be invited to submit a manuscript for peer-review. Publication will be contingent upon successful peer-review.
