Workshop Description 

The purpose of this workshop is to give early career researchers working in Philosophy of Mind and of Cognitive Science the opportunity to discuss and receive in-depth comments on their works, ideally, extended drafts close to submission. The workshop will bring together eight early career researchers—four internal and four external—working on interrelated topics. To further invigorate the interaction, each speaker will be paired with an early career researcher from the RUB or the Research Group in Situated Cognition working on the same or closely related topic. The paired speakers will receive each other’s papers in advance, and will be invited to comment on each other’s talk.

Topics:  

The workshop does not have a specific topic, but the submitted papers must be in Philosophy of Mind and/or of Cognitive Science, broadly understood. Possible topics include, but are not limited to: 

·     Epistemology of perception

·     Mental representations

·     The role of language and metaphors in cognition

·     Social cognition and joint action

·     The Problem of Consciousness

·     Naturalization of intentionality

·     Animal cognition and comparative psychology

Submission instructions

Abstracts ready for blind review (1000 words) making argument and structure of the papers clear plus a separate cover sheetwith name, contact information, institutional affiliation, abstract’s title, and degree pursued (we will only take into considerations PhD candidates or early career researchers within 2 years from completion of the PhD) should be submitted for blind review to [email protected] by the June 29. Notifications of acceptance will be sent by July 2. Accepted speakers will send their full papers (of no more than 10,000 words) by July 15
