Papers for this year's International Society of Military Ethics Conference are invited to explore the issues surrounding the military use of space.  Send one-page abstract proposals to program co-chairs Dr. Nikki Coleman and Joel Brown at [email protected] and [email protected]Proposals/abstracts are due by 15 January 2019.  Participants will be notified of the results of peer review before 1 March 2019.

Responding to presidential direction, the US Department of Defense is studying ways to launch Space Force as a new department of military endeavor.  This fact adds urgency to what many have long realized:  As a developing warfighting domain, space warfare needs to be treated with the same ethical scrutiny as all other domains of conflict.  This conference offers an opportunity to bring together ethicists from around the world to debate questions about the ethics of space usage and warfare.

The event will be held at the Univesity of Colorado, Colorado Springs June 29-30, 2019.
