Call for Papers

Topic: Ancient Philosophy, including but not limited to Ancient Greek & Roman Philosophy

Keynote Speaker: Mark Johnstone of McMaster University

Submission Deadline: February, 1st, 2019

Conference Date: March 16th, 2019

The University of Toronto Scarborough’s Annual International Undergraduate Philosophy Conference showcases undergraduate work in philosophy. We will be selecting four papers for presentation at this year’s conference. The papers are selected through a blind review process by University of Toronto undergraduates at the Scarborough Campus. If selected you will be expected to present a 20-30 minute talk followed by comments from a UTSC student and a Q&A period.

The theme for this year's conference is Ancient Philosophy. Mark Johnstone of McMaster University will be our keynote speaker. He will be presenting a paper on Aristotle’s conception of the soul. We would also like to stress that the topic includes but is not limited to Ancient Greek & Roman Philosophy and we encourage the submission of work based on non-western sources.

APS also offers students up to $500.00 CAD in expense reimbursements if they are selected for the conference!

The APS is committed to maintaining an inclusive atmosphere for the duration of our conference. If you have any accommodation needs to ensure your full participation in the event, we will be more than willing to work with you, given adequate notice, to ensure those needs are taken care of. Please contact us at [email protected] any accessibility related questions or concerns.
