Sometimes we think something without really getting it, really understanding it, or really grasping it. For example, you might know that the sun is 1.3 million times larger in volume than the earth without really grasping this fact. In this talk, I try to shed light on what it takes to grasp something. I explore two broad views on grasping: the phenomenal view and the cognitive view. I suggest that the phenomenal view offers the most plausible account of grasping. In the process, I explore the role of consciousness in reasoning.
