After the cognitivist- symbolic and connectionist approaches, we're now witnessing the emergence of a new paradigm in the cognitive sciences and philosophy of mind. This new emerging paradigm depicts the mind (and our cognitive faculties) as not only rooted in the neural networks of our brain, but also as grounded in our body. From this perspective, the mind is something distributed between our brain, body, and the world (environment). Put differently, this approach depicts the mind as Embodied, Embedded, Enacted, and Extended, hence called the 4E approach to mind.
The Center for Philosophy of Science of Sharif University of Technology (SUT) is immensely proud to announce that “Sharif Online Summer School on Philosophy of Cognitive Science: 4E Approaches” has gathered a number of most influential philosophers and scientists in the field to deliver their lectures on the relevant topics. Students and scholars from all around the world are more than welcome to join this interesting event which will be held on September 9-10, 2020.
