In recent years, the topic of duties to oneself has enjoyed renewed interest. The purpose of this conference is to bring together scholars interested in this promising area of research, and to provide a forum for the discussion of its emerging questions.
In addition to the confirmed speakers listed above, we seek to select up to four speakers based on abstracts submitted for blind review. We especially encourage submissions from graduate students. The topic of duties to oneself is conceived broadly. Themes and issues may include but are not limited to:
- Personal projects
- Responsibility to oneself
- Rights against oneself
- Self-improvement
- Self-knowledge
- Self-other symmetry/asymmetry
- Self-regarding virtues
- Self-sacrifice
- Self-worth
