Details

The University of Warwick’s yearly MindGrad conference will be held via Zoom on the 26th and 27th of June 2021. Our topic this year is The Consciousness of Time. We are honoured to have Professor John Campbell (UC Berkeley) and Professor Natalja Deng (Yonsei University) in attendance. Professor Campbell and Professor Deng will be giving talks on topics related to the consciousness of time.

We are currently seeking graduate students interested in presenting at this year's MindGrad conference. We welcome papers of up to 4,500 words (excluding bibliography), suitable for a 30-minute presentation. Papers should be accompanied by an abstract of around 300 words.

Papers should relate to the consciousness of time and might discuss questions such as:

  • What makes it possible for us to experience and represent change, motion and stasis?
  • Are experiences necessarily temporal? Or could there be experience without time?
  • Is there such a thing as the specious present? If so, how should we understand it?
  • What explains temporally asymmetric emotions, and can they be justified?
  • What is involved in the grasp of tenses, or the concept of particular times?

The deadline for submissions is the 30th of April 2021.

Papers should be submitted electronically via EasyChair using the following link:

https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=mindgrad2021. To submit a paper, you must first create an EasyChair account or sign into an existing EasyChair account. To create an account, select “Create an Account” on the EasyChair homepage and follow the instructions.

All graduate submissions will be subject to a blind review by members of the Department of Philosophy at the University of Warwick. Successful submissions will be informed by the beginning of June.

For any additional questions, please do not hesitate to contact us at:  [email protected].
