The 72nd Annual Northwest Philosophy Conference

Portland State University
Portland, OR
November 12 & 13, 2021

The Northwest Philosophy Conference is held each fall, attracting philosophers from across the United States and abroad. The primary purpose of this conference is to provide a forum for philosophical work as a service to the profession. This has been the major professional philosophy conference in the region for the past 73 years.

We will be including the following options for submissions:

  • Individual Paper submissions
  • Panel submission (3-4 speakers not presenting individual papers, but rather engaged in a discussion on a specific topic)
  • Author meets critics sessions (one author of a recent book and 2-3 critics)
  • Lightning session: 5-minute presentations of recent work

We hope to hold the conference in person with an online option. Given the uncertainties of COVID-19, a final decision about meeting in person will be made by August 31st.

Keynote Speaker

David Boersema, Emeritus Professor, Pacific University
