Details

On Wednesday March 13th 2013, the York Humanities Research Centre at the University of York will be hosting a one-day conference focusing on the relationship between post-Kantianism and Critical Theory. While Critical Theory is often seen as fundamentally a combination of Hegelian thought with Marxist concerns, there is perhaps still more left to be learnt from how Critical Theorists often draw quite deeply on certain trends in post-Kantian thought, and comparatively neglected post-Kantians like Schelling, Fichte, et al. The conference is intended to provide an opportunity to examine some of the inheritances from post-Kantianism by the main proponents of Critical Theory. The potential for mounting criticisms of Critical Theorists by drawing on these post-Kantian thinkers will also be explored.
