In the face of long-term risks associated with climate change, prolonged military conflicts and rising populism: what is an appropriate attitude towards the future? Is there any reliable prospect of a flourishing humanity in the future, and do moral agents, devotedly engaging in political activism, in some sense, rely on such a prospect? As is well-known, Immanuel Kant endorsed the disputable position that political and religious hope is reasonably justified. Should we hold on to this Kantian position?
