Details

  • Postgraduate and Postdoctoral Symposium
  • Hosted by the Birmingham Centre for the Philosophy of Religion
  • Sponsored by Research England QR Enhancing Research and Knowledge Exchange Funding Programme

This two-day (in-person) symposium will focus on two aspects:

  • New approaches to philosophy of religion (e.g. disciplinary innovation/combination of philosophy with other disciplines; dialogue between analytic and continental approaches; feminist approaches; science-engaged theology/philosophy or empirically-informed theology/philosophy)
  • Global perspectives and/or non-western traditions (e.g. ethnic difference in methodology; new approaches to traditional ‘problems’ in the philosophy of religion).

We invite current postgraduate research students or those who have recently received their PhDs (UK and International) to share their research in a ‘poster’ short presentation format (10 min). This research should fit into the topics or approaches of the two aspects noted above.  The maximum number of places awarded will be 20 in order to give opportunity for each participant to share their work in a plenary format, engage in discussion and receive feedback from academics and peers.  As part of the symposium there will be a training workshop focussed on making postdoc grant applications.

Travel expenses, meals and accommodation will be provided to successful applicants.

Application process:

Please email your most recent CV and a short outline of your presentation (300-500 words) by 5pm on Monday 7 February 2022 to:

Ryan Maze:  [email protected]
