Call For Papers: Workshop on the Philosophy of Smell, May 4-6, 2022

The Department of Philosophy at the University of Nevada, Reno will be hosting a workshop on the Philosophy of Smell on May 4-6, 2022. The workshop will bring together established and early career philosophers working on smell with the hope of initiating a series of workshops in the coming years. 

Our keynote speaker will be Barry Smith 

Invited speakers include:

Clare Batty

Ophelia Deroy

Andreas Keller

Bill Lycan

Additionally, the workshop will include a number of contributed presentations from upcoming philosophers of smell. 

We invite graduate students, post-docs, and early career researchers (within 5 years of attaining their PhD) to submit short high-quality papers for presentation in any area of philosophy related to smell, olfaction, taste, or flavor. 

Those selected for presentations will be provided with an honorarium.

Submission Deadline: Monday, April 4th, 2022. 

Accepted submission will be notified by April 11.

Please submit two separate documents. The first (prepared for blind review) should include the title, a 400-600 word abstract, and a 3000 word paper. Papers should be suitable for a 30 minute presentation. In addition, please prepare a cover sheet with the following information:

•Author’s name

•Author’s institutional affiliation

•Author’s email
