Arguments about personhood, self-consciousness, and the first-person perspective are often intertwined. Can self-consciousness be explained by the indexical ‘I’? Is self-consciousness necessary for personhood? Or are these issues best kept separate: Is ‘I’ merely a linguistic phenomenon and personhood best understood as a social or narrative concept?
Especially in the discussion about personal identity, these questions are often crucial: Are we biological organisms or defined by consciousness? Are there criteria of personal identity or is our identity best understood in analogy to criteria free self-reference?
We invite paper presentations on the topics of personhood, self-consciousness, or the first-person perspective as well as on the persistence of persons or the self.

- Paper presentations will be around 30 to 40 minutes
Please send your abstract to [email protected] by 31th of Mai. Notifications of acceptance will be sent no later than 15th of June.
